Essential Take-Aways from the Training
- The doors of learning shall be open. Every person can learn mathematics to any level. This includes myself as a teacher developing a disposition towards continually learning & growing.
- I am becoming, because we are becoming. Learning mathematics is a social activity which can be informed by an Ubuntu philosophy.
- Multiple Representations. Value solutions that are represented in many ways; value different ways of seeing things; value solving one question in many different ways more than solving many different questions in one way.
- Brains can grow and are influenced by our mindset. Mindful becoming through an awareness of research in neuroscience & metacognition.
- Low floor; High Ceiling. How do we design good learning opportunities with an accessible entry level that can be taken to an advanced level?
